REPORT: (Comments) |
Mr. G. (Geoffrey)
Goode commenting on the report felt that item (e) (re. Litter campaign
for beach), was not a conservation issue and that he would prefer to
see
the Society concerned with something else, like the declining
vegetation
on the foreshore, rather than the Society interesting itself with the
cosmetic
issue of litter. He also suggested that perhaps the Society could ask
the
local Council to provide pathways amongst the foreshore vegetation,
similar
to those provided by Mordialloc Council; this would prevent people from
tramping on the vegetation. Another suggestion was that the Society
request
of Council that various weeds be kept under control.
K. (Kenneth) Rendell proposed the report be received. Seconded J. (John) Halliday. Carried |

| FILM & DISCUSSION: | Mr. K. (Kenneth)
Rendell welcomed our Guest Speaker, Mr. Colin Bath, who was
representing
the Keep Australia Beautiful Council.
Mr. (Geoffrey) Goode moved that the meeting remain open until after the film so that there would be an opportunity to discuss the film and topics brought forward by the speaker. Seconded P. (Paul) Weir. An interesting film was shown by Mr. Bath about the problems of litter and how the K.A.B.C. was tackling these problems. Mr. Bath also outlined the structure of the K.A.B.C. Mr. G. (Geoffrey) Goode commented that a litter problem need not exist if the idea of returnable containers was introduced. Mr. J. (John) Halliday was in agreement with this comment. Mr. Bath very kindly offered his assistance should B.C.S. wish to commence a litter campaign in the Beaumaris area. |
